13 July 2010 - FITA Field Round training in Cali, Colombia

FITA Field Round training in Cali, Colombia Cali (COL) - 13 July 2010  The city of Cali was selected to run the World Games in 2013. From 2-5 July 2010, the Colombian Archery Federation and the Valle Archery League organised a Field Archery Round in order to train and promote such an event to the people.
The tournament was held in the Canas Gordas Club of Comfenalco Valle with very good facilities. The number of participants was 45 archers, five coaches, and some observers from five archery leagues of Colombia. There were also 25 people forming all the support groups needed to run this kind of competition.
The field was very nice and plain, and very easy to walk, in order to explain to the participants all the elements of a field round, and to have a very good control during the tournament. The next competition will be in a more complicated course, with mountains and some other difficulties, in order to explain how to control this kind of course. The targets used were similar to those of the FITA Outdoor Round but with the field round faces.
Instead of the traditional Team Captains' meeting, the organisers ran a general explanation of the field round, so that all participants would know what to do in every situation and in every role they would have on the course.   Six Colombian judges, three continental judges and three national judges received a complete training on the field round rules. They did a very good job during the competition, solving all questions from the archers and coaches. They put special attention to safety issues on the course.   The Colombia Archery Federation and the Valle Archery League aim at organising more tournaments of this kind in order to run a very good Field Archery Round at the 2013 World Games. The work of the Valle Archery League and his President, Angela MOSQUERA, was excellent and all the support people showed a very good commitment with the challenge of organising this World Games field competition.
