4 March 2011 - New European Coaching Trainers Programme

New European Coaching Trainers Programme Lausanne – 4 March 2011
EMAU hopes to increase the number of coaches and improve their knowledge through the education of coaching trainers. This is precisely the topic of a course taking place in Compiègne (FRA) this week.    Since 28 February, 14 participants coming from 11 European countries are attending a coaching trainer’s course.
This course is conducted by André KOORLAR (NED) and Pascal Colmaire (FITA). Participants accepted to help EMAU and FITA in the area of coaches education and work jointly towards a consensus on coaching methods that could be applied in their respective countries and anywhere else.
The following subjects have been studied: Organisation/preparation of a course – What is a good coach? - How can a coach be efficient? – A coach’s profile; his role, mission/tasks, his position, levels of coaches - Case studies and exercises on the development of technical abilities on the field – Analysis of the teaching skills.
The group was welcomed by the City Council of Compiègne, a town that was recently voted “best sports city” in France. Compiègne has a permanent archery centre consisting of a training field and an indoor archery range. Furthermore two coaches work full-time at the centre plus one trainee, which provides excellent conditions for this course. Mr Philippe BOUCLET, the World Archery Vice-President, EMAU Council Member, Deputy Secretary General of CNOSF and President of France Archery Federation, is at the heart of this project and is very appreciated by all participants. The project was set up successfully thanks to the financial support of the Olympic Solidarity and European Olympic Committees.
Participants: Urte PAULUS (AUT), Elena GHEORGHITA (ROM), Miljko COLOVIC (SEB), Stanislav TROYEPOLSKIY (ISR), Patrick LEBEAU (FR), Theophanous STYLIANO (CYP), Anu USSMAA (EST), Kristin NESTOR-ALVISTE (EST), Damir KOLAREK (CRO), Dubravko BUDEN (CRO), Keith HANLON (IRL), Pat LYONS (IRL), Constantine YANTSIOS (GRE) and Carlos Freitas (POR).
