3 July 2011 - Flash Quotes from Recurve Official Practice

Flash Quotes from Recurve Official Practice Turin – 3 July 2011   Today was practise day for both recurve and compound archers. We asked three questions to some of the recurve shooters and officials:
- You are part of the biggest World Archery Championship ever. How do you feel about it?
- Did you enjoy the Opening Ceremony?
- What are your feelings about London 2012?   Here are the answers:
Brady ELLISON (USA) - Oh, well… It is a big event! The field is huge! It is going to be a great competition. - The Opening Ceremony was great! Very neat place, I like the ancient building and all the light effects. - It should be awesome! But we will see at the Test Event. This is the right moment because nowadays I am shooting better than ever and I hope it will get better and better. I hope we will come back from London with one or two medals.
BUSKBJERG JAGER Maja (DEN) - It is nice to be here and of course I am excited. I know it will be a hard competition, but I will do my best. - The Opening Ceremony was really nice, but a little too long and I was tired after the trip. I particularly enjoyed the light show and seeing all the athletes together.  - It will be hard to have the chance to get to London, but I hope to earn the quota together with my team.   Natalya ERDYNIEVA (RUS) - I feel really glad and I am enjoying it. It is a very positive experience for me. - I liked the Opening Ceremony, it was really nice. - I hope we will get a team quota. This new system gives the chance to go to the Olympic Games to both the strong and weaker teams. It must be like that, but personally I don’t like it.   Mauro NESPOLI (ITA) - Yes, I know this is the biggest championships ever. But I’ve been to Beijing too, so I know what it feels like being part of such a big event. - The light show was great. I enjoyed it very much, although I think that the foreign people found the part about the Italian movies a little bit difficult to understand. - I am not worried about the qualification because I am confident that we will earn a place either this time or in one of the next qualifier events.    Artem SANISHVILI (GEO), Georgian Archery Federation's Secretary General - This event for me is like a big holiday. The Italian Federation did a great job choosing the Hunting Residence of Stupinigi because the kings used to hunt here with bows and arrows. So I like this symbolic linked to the history of archery, from past to present times. - It had a unique style. I loved the music and the videos. I recognised most of the famous Italians they projected during the show and to me it was like going back through all my life. - With this qualification system the countries will have more chances to get a quota, either individual or team.  Justyna MOSPINEK (POL) - It is a pleasure for me to be here. It is really fun! - I liked the Opening Ceremony but it was too late at night. Anyway I really liked it. - It will be different than years ago. In my opinion it will be harder for many countries to get quotas, and there will be fewer countries.     Natalia SANCHEZ (COL) - I know this is such big event and it is lovely and exciting to be here. I love to compete, I love this sport, and I love being here with all these people. I think it will be a beautiful experience. - I liked the light show and the flags projected on the building. The way they were moving, they looked like real flags. It was something I had never seen before. And the jugglers were amazing. I liked the fact that they all were high-level athletes. - We are all working hard to earn the quota for the Olympics with the whole team, and we will do our best.   Gohar SCHACHNAZARYAN (ARM) - I am glad to be here and to be part of this great event. - I liked the ceremony and the light show very much. - This new qualification system is fair, but the strong teams can take all the quotas without giving any chance to weaker countries.   Daniel PAVLOV (BUL) – Bulgarian Archery Association's President - It is very exciting to be here. We are very happy that we came. For Bulgarian archers it means that this sport is gaining popularity in our country. - It was fantastic beyond words! - I think that it is good that more countries will have more chances to participate. The team quota is better than the individual one, because if you fail to get the place for your team, you can achieve maximum one place for the individual. Moreover I hope the Bulgarian team will compete in the Olympics so that this sport will be more appealing and we will gain more support from our government.   Vanessa LEE (CAN) - I am excited to be here. I love both the city and the country. Moreover it is great to be with people from all over the world. - Yes, I definitely liked the Opening Ceremony. The light show was amazing, it was really cool! They did a great job! - Right now I am only thinking about today. I want it! I want to go to the Olympics, but I also want to focus on today and enjoy it as much as possible.   Carole HICKS (NZL), Para-Archery Committee Member - I am delighted to be here even if there is a huge amount of walking to do, which is quite difficult. - Yes, I liked it. But after 44 hours of flight we were tired and having to stay up until late was not the best way to appreciate the show. -For the first time in a couple of Olympic Games we are hopeful that we will qualify. The team is great. This is the first men team in years that has got the possibility to gain the quota.   Mariya LARKINA, Dajana PICCOLO, Rebecca RABOZZI World Archery Communication
