Delegates at the 56th World Archery Congress in Gwangju, Korea, elected Greg Easton (USA) as the federation’s 10th president on 3 September, succeeding Prof Dr Ugur Erdener, who completed a 20-year tenure.

Easton won decisively, receiving 208 votes to Tom Dielen‘s 96.

As the son of former president James Easton, Greg’s election continues a familial legacy in the sport. His four-year term begins when congress closes.

Following the presidential vote on Wednesday morning, elections filled other key positions, including vice presidents, executive board and committee members.

Thomas Han (Korea)  and Mark Miller (USA) were elected vice presidents. Han retains the position, having already served as vice president during the previous term.

Four seats on the board were contested by 11 candidates.

Incumbents Maria Emma Gaviria (Colombia) and Carina Olsson (Sweden) secured re-election in the first round. Newcomer Ahmed Tarik Amiry (Sudan) also won immediate election, while Abdullah Topaloglu (Türkiye) emerged as the fourth board member in the fifth round after extended voting.

Elections also took place across World Archery’s permanent committees. Among them, the newly permanent gender equity and inclusion committee elected four members – including two with two-year mandates.

In total, 11 female candidates were elected to committee and board roles, raising women’s representation across these bodies to 42 %.

Elections took place on the second day of the 56th World Archery Congress.
