China makes three consecutive World Cup recurve women’s team stage finals
It was a morning full of shoot-off drama as China edged Türkiye to reach a third consecutive Hyundai Archery World Cup recurve women’s team gold medal match at Antalya 2026.
Zhu Jingyi and Huang Yuwei were both part of the trio that defeated Türkiye in straight sets (6-0) in Puebla before settling for silver in Shanghai after a surprise loss to India on home soil.
This time, alongside Tlaxcala 2024 Hyundai Archery World Cup Final Champion Li Jiaman, they spoiled the home hopes at the Gloria Sports Arena.
The Turkish team of Dunya Yenihayat, Elif Gokkir and 17-year-old Canse Duru Tarakci shot nine, nine and eight in the shoot-off, while Huang delivered the decisive arrow into the 10-ring. Zhu added a nine and Li an eight to secure a 27–26 victory and another guaranteed team medal for China.
“Whether it’s the right path or not, I’m trying my best to move forward,” said Li, who is currently competing for a place alongside Gwangju 2025 Hyundai World Archery Championships recurve women’s silver medallist Zhu in China’s team for the upcoming Aichi-Nagoya 2026 Asian Games.
“Recently, I’ve been focusing on adjusting my condition. Since last year’s competition, I’ve been in the process of training, and there have also been some family issues to resolve.”
“I’ve also been addressing my shoulder injury, which is being treated accordingly, so the next step is to further refine my training process.”
Li’s return has immediately strengthened a Chinese team that has now reached every recurve women’s team final this season.
Türkiye, meanwhile, continued to show progress despite falling short on home soil only weeks after finishing fourth at the European Outdoor Championships 2026, also held in Antalya.
The atmosphere throughout the semifinal was intense.
Both China and Türkiye’s coaches were highly vocal behind the shooting line, with cheers echoing across the field throughout the match.
At the same time, Mexico stunned Korea in the other semifinal – also through a shoot-off – and teams were reminded by chair judge Kathleen Anne Lipscomb to remain respectful during the matches.
“These are things that athletes have to accept,” added Li. “It’s not just the coach; sometimes the audience’s influence is also a factor. I think these are things that we shooters have to go through.”
China will now face Puebla bronze medallist Mexico in Saturday’s gold medal match.
Competition continues in Antalya on Thursday afternoon with compound and recurve mixed team eliminations.
