Twenty-three countries represented at the World Ranking Event in Bangkok Lausanne – 17 February 2009 Hiroshi YAMAMOTO (JPN) at the 2004 Olympic Games    The 1st Asian Grand Prix 2009 will start on Wednesday 18 April in Bangkok (THA). In total, 23 Countries from four continents are to compete at this first major World Ranking Event of the year.   The Asian Grand Prix Circuit is the start of the season for Asia and is always giving a view of who are the new talents in this continent. Several new names appear on the starting list and the tournament could therefore generate quite some surprises. List of participants   In the men’s recurve category we look forward to see Hiroshi YAMAMOTO (JPN) win this event on more time after 2005 and 2007. This Asian Grand Prix has been one of YAMAMOTO’s favourite events for years, and although the 1984 bronze and 2004 silver Olympic medallist missed the 2008 Olympic Games, he is still very much competitive. However, he will have to beat the strong Malaysian team—among others—which is out for revenge after a disappointing Olympic event in Beijing.

The event will be held at the FITA Accredited training centre in Bangkok. This centre has become the focal area for the development of our sport in this part of Asia.
