  1.    Why did you choose to shoot compound? 2.    In your opinion, why the compound bow should be included in the Olympic programme?  Compound Men   Patrizio HOFER (SUI) 1.    My father was shooting compound so I did the same. So I thought ‘I want one of these’. Later on I realised that I could compete at a higher level with my compound bow and earn more money. 2.    It’s a great sport like recurve! When you miss the centre of the target, you hear the reaction.   Roberval DOS SANTOS (BRA) 3.    I like the machine. A compound bow is more technical, more precise than a recurve bow. I tried recurve and I made it to the national championships but personally I prefer shooting compound. 4.    Both recurve and compound archery are beautiful sports and offer exciting competitions. Therefore, compound also deserves to be seen in the Olympic Games. It is the biggest stage for sports and it would be fair to give a chance to compound.   Compound Women   Sophia GONCHAROVA (RUS) 1.    I began with recurve but I reached a much higher level with compound. Now I don’t think I can change back to recurve. 2.    I think compound is modern, popular, easy-to-try at the grass-root level and gives exciting shows at the high level. We have had a great evolution and there are a lot of quality shooters across the world. It’s the dream of every archer to become Olympic champion! It’s mine, too.   Jamie VAN NATTA (USA) 1.    I tried both and I really preferred compound. You know exactly the effects of yours mistakes. You know why the arrow is going into the 5 or 6 instead of the 10. It’s more difficult to sense it in recurve. In compound you can really shoot for perfection. 2.    The scores are closer and it makes it more exciting for spectators. I think it’s a modern sport and the Olympic should show a modern image. There should be no limitations, it prevents us from growing.  Nely ACQUESTA (BRA) – Shooting her personal bests at 70m and 60m today 3.    The first time I tried, I just loved it! 4.    It is a nice a sports, it is competitive.
