The Local Organising Committee (LOC) has a new VISA Support person as part of their team. Her name is Cristin SMITH (ywcvisasupport@gmail.com) and she will be taking care of all the invitation letter requests. She sent on 10 June 2009 an email to all Visa Waiver Program (VWP) countries reminding them of the requirements to use the VWP and asking for an update on their entry permission status. She also sent a letter to Non-VWP countries reminding them on the VISA information that was in the invitation package. There are a number of countries that have not yet requested invitation letters, and the LOC needs to get the information so they can send an invitation letter.
In light of archery’s return to the Commonwealth Games in New Delhi 2010, FITA will organise a youth camp to prepare youth archers from the Commonwealth countries. Thirteen archers from Bahamas, Namibia, New Zealand, Nigeria, Samoa, Sri Lanka and Trinidad will beneficiate from expert coaching and facilities during a youth camp organised at the Olympic Archery Center in Chula Vista (near San Diego), USA, from 3-10 July 2009. These archers will then go directly to the World Archery Youth Championships in Ogden, which will be the main qualifier for the Singapore 2010 Youth Olympic Games. The 16-year old American Ben CLELAND shot 1401 points at the trials tournament for the 2009 World Championships in Ulsan, Korea, in September (senior event, not junior). He was part of the team that attended the World Archery Youth Championships in Turkey last year and will again compete in Ogden this year. FITA Communication
