Ogden World Cup at the heart of archery season
Lausanne
The Ogden stage means: Ø The recurve athletes will shoot with the new Set System Format with best of 3 or 5 sets. They have played it at the World Cup stages in Porec and Antalya and in many international events since the beginning of the 2010. Still, at mid-season, some archers have now much more experience than others with the Set System. Ø The compound athletes will shoot for the second time only the Compound Round (qualifications at 50m and matches on Hit/Miss target with best of 4 or 6 sets). Two changes have been made since the first try in Antalya. If there is a tie in a match, the shoot-off will be played on a single arrow (for teams one arrow per team member) shoot-off for score (maximum of three shoot-offs); in case there is still a tie after three shoot-offs, the arrow closest to the centre wins! Moreover, the teams will shoot sets of six arrows (instead of three). Ø For more details on these new competition formats, please consult our Frequently Asked Question section. In terms of competitions, the Ogden stage features: Ø The athletes who are fighting for a spot at the World Cup Final in Edinburgh on 18-19 September. To recap, the top seven individuals on the World Cup ranking after Stage 4 in Shanghai will qualify. Each top mixed team (recurve and compound) makes it as well. Ø The recurve athletes who are competing for the top spot in the Longines Prize for Precision. Ø The athletes who are preparing and, in some cases, still fighting for a spot in their team for the Commonwealth Games in New Delhi (IND) on 3-14 October. Ø The athletes who are preparing and, in some cases, still fighting for a spot in their team for the Asian Games in Guangzhou (CHN) on 12-27 November. Ø A few athletes will do all of the above, while some others will mainly look for experience in Ogden.
Recurve Men
In Recurve Men, Brady ELLISON (USA) photo has a comfortable lead over his pursuers both in the World Cup ranking and the Longines Prize for Precision. Compound Women
Three compound women have already made quasi-decisive progress in the World Cup Final qualification. Ashley WALLACE (CAN), 43 points, Nicky HUNT (GBR), 42, and Erika ANSCHUTZ photo (USA), 40. The race is wide opened for the remaining spots. It will be played among Camilla SOEMOD (DEN), Sandrine VANDIONANT (FRA), Andrea GALES (GBR), Irina MARKOVIC (NED), as well as the three other American competitors Jamie VAN NATTA, Brittany LORENTI and Diane WATSON.
The Ogden World Cup stage will also feature team and mixed team competitions. Teams compete for the overall nation ranking in the World Cup.
