Archery is back at the Commonwealth Games Lausanne – 26 August 2010 Danielle BROWN (GBR) at the Beijing 2008 Paralympic Games    Archery is back on the Commonwealth Games programme for the first time since its 1982 debut in Brisbane, Australia. The Delhi Commonwealth Games archery competition will take place at the Yamuna Sports Complex from 4-10 October 2010. Most countries have now selected their archers for this tournament.   Paralympic gold medallist Danielle BROWN has been named in England's archery squad for the Commonwealth Games 2010 Delhi. The 22-year-old will become the first Paralympian to represent England in an able-bodied event at the Games. She will compete in women's compound together with Nicky HUNT and Nichola SIMPSON.   Alison WILLIAMSON, an Olympic bronze medallist in Athens in 2004, topped the women's recurve selection shoot ahead of Amy OLIVER and Naomi FOLKARD.   Simon TERRY, who won Olympic bronze in 1992, will form the men's recurve team with Larry GODFREY and Alan WILLS.   Liam GRIMWOOD, Chris WHITE and Duncan BUSBY trio claimed bronze in the team men's compound at the World Cup event in Antalya in June and will be in New Delhi even more ambitious.   Among the Scottish line-up is Simon NEEDHAM, who has major Games experience, having competed in the 2000 Olympics in Sydney as well as European and World Championships for Great Britain. He will team up with Mark FORRESTER and James LAING in recurve men.
At 27, Emma DOWNIE is the youngest member of Team Scotland. She was the winner of the 2009 British Target Championships in recurve. She will be the only Scottish participant in women's recurve.   In compound, Angus Kyle DODS, Tim KEPPIE and Alastair WHITTINGHAM will shoot in the men's division. Claudine JENNINGS, Susan MAITLAND and Tracey McGOWAN will be their counterparts in women.   Dietmar TRILLUS, a former world champion, will lead Canada's 12-member archery team at the Commonwealth Games 2010 Delhi. TRILLUS won the 2007 world championship and the 2008 World Cup in the compound bow division. He will team up with Andrew FAGAN and Kevin TATARYN.   Marie-Pier BEAUDET, who competed in the 2004 and 2008 Olympic Games, was also named to the team. A specialist of the recurve bow, she won a silver medal in the team event at the 2007 Pan American Games. She will be in Delhi with Kateri VRAKKING and Alana MacDOUGALL.   Ashley WALLACE is currently leading the 2010 World Cup overall standings in the compound women's division. Doris JONES, junior world champion in 2006, and Camille BOUFFARD-DEMERS will be her teammates at the Commonwealth Games.      Crispin DUENAS (CAN) at the Beijing 2008 Olympic GamesCrispin DUENAS, currently 10th in the world ranking, and Jay LYON also competed at the 2008 Olympic Games in the recurve bow division and is currently ranked 10th in the world. They will team up with Hugh MacDONALD.   Three-time Olympian Matthew GRAY is probably Australia's best medal chance in the hotly-contested men's recurve event. GRAY will compete alongside compatriots Taylor WORTH and Mathew MASONWELLS.   In the women's recurve, 38-year-old Olympic veteran Deonne BRIDGER will take to the range with Dawn NELSON and 2008 Olympian Alexandra (Lexie) FEENEY.   Australia's compound contingent will be spearheaded by Clint FREEMAN, 2003 outdoor world champion and former world target champion. Patrick COGHLAN, a 2008 World Cup stage winner, joins him, as does Robert TIMMS.   In the women's equivalent, Cassie McCALL, Fiona HYDE and Rebecca DARBY will battle it out in India, buoyed by their recent World Cup bronze medal in Ogden as a recurve team. McCALL has been described by Archery Australia as a "revelation", having only taken up the sport two years ago.   Shaun TEASDALE leads New Zealand compound team of three men and three women. Ranked 14th in the world at just 21 years of age, TEASDALE will be joined in the men's team by world championship bronze medallist Stephen CLIFTON and Tony WADDICK.   Making up the women's team is 19-year-old Stephanie CROSKERY, will team up with Mandy McGREGOR and Anne MITCHELL.   Former world champion Dola BANERJEE will lead the 12-member Indian archery squad for the Commonwealth Games 2010. The world No. 11 will be joined by L. BOMBAYALA and Dipika KUMARI in the women's recurve team.    The men's recurve team will comprise world No. 9 Jayanta TALUKDAR, world No. 20 Rahul BANERJEE and Tarundeep RAI.   India will also be represented in compound with P. SRITHAR, C.H. JIGNESH and Ritul CHATTERJEE on the men's side, and Jhanu HANSDA, Gagandeep KAUR and Bhagyawati CHANU in women.   Wales, Northern Ireland and South Africa have also already selected their team members.
