Quotes of the individual gold and bronze medal matches

Recurve Men
Jean-Charles VALLADONT (FRA) – Gold Medal
I was leading by a few points but every arrow counts. I won’t be able to realise what I did until I’m on the podium and the French national anthem plays. It will bring tears to my eyes for sure.
During the final, I thought each target was important. When I came on the last one, with an advantage of 3 points, I thought it was like 0-0, ball in the middle. I knew target from the event yesterday, but Jake (KAMINSKI) as well. I started with a 6 which five another boost of confidence. Then I shot a 5. For the last arrow I knew I needed 3 points. I just relaxed, took some margin with my shot and got a 4. That was it!
Jake KAMINSKI (USA) – Silver Medal
I am extremely tired. The Games took so much energy out of me. I’m very happy to have won the silver in my first world field championships. I’m going to be “serious” about it, I observed how the other archers shoot and will try to train more in field archery.
Recurve Women
Elena RICHTER (GER) – Gold Medal
I already competed in the 2010 World Field Championships, where I was team champion and came in 4th individually. Yesterday I won the bronze with my wonderful teammates, and today I have the gooold! My goal was to finish in the top 4, this is nothing that I would have expected! I trained more for target archery, as it is my main discipline. It’s my first field archery competition this year so I’m really happy with this result!
Naomi FOLKARD (GBR) – Bronze Medal
I feel good, now that I have a gold and a bronze, after we won the team event yesterday!
Compound Men
Jesse BROADWATER (USA) – Gold Medal
Surprisingly I felt better on the last two targets than the first two. I was hoping to do better on the first two targets in order to release the pressure for the remaining two. The wind was tricky and made it harder. My goal coming here was to shoot good shots every time, I didn’t try to beat anyone or break records. It’s the good shots that make me happy.

Ivana BUDEN (CRO) – Gold Medal
I know I’m a good field archer, but I didn’t expect this gold medal. I was just taking the competition step by step, without any expectations. It’s my first world title in any of the FITA disciplines. My scores of 16 on the first six targets were OK, but I wasn’t happy with the last target (13 points). On my first arrow I aimed too high, on the second I was bothered by the wind, and on the last arrow I was short on time. I saw that Paige PEARCE was already done shooting, and I tried to focus and deliver a brave last shot.
I started training recently with my brother Damagoj. When he was younger it wasn’t easy, but he recently became much better and we can train together. Because we know each other so well, I know how to encourage him and he knows what I need to hear when I shoot, and this way we help each other progress.
Barebow Men
Alan EAGLETON (USA) – Silver Medal
This is my second FITA field archery tournament – I usually shot NFAA field archery. I’ve competed in the U.S. National Championships in 2009 and 2010 and won both times. I felt very comfortable here all the way, even though the last day was hard. Once thing I learned in this tournament is that I need to practice more extreme angles. Because of the angle and the pressure, it was very difficult for me to shoot on the last target. This tournament was very different from what I’m used to, there were so many spectators. I can feel that these championships mean much more here than anything I’ve ever competed in. I’m very happy and excited with the individual silver and the team gold medal. It was a very good tournament. How the groups from each country root for each other is awesome and makes it a lot of fun. God willing, I will be back.

Lina BJORKLUND (SWE) – Gold Medal
My plan was to win a medal but I didn’t expect the gold. Shooting against Eleonora STROBBE is like running against Usain BOLT: No matter how fast you run, you will never beat him. I never thought that I would beat her, I was surprised. Field archery is not as popular as 3D archery in Sweden, and I shot only three field competitions earlier this year.
