ELZINGA and LOGINOVA dominate compound qualifications

Compound qualifications took place this morning at the Medellin World Cup in the form of a Compound Round (2 x 36 arrows at 50 metres). Peter ELZINGA (main photo) was the man of the day. The Dutch archer, who recently broke the world record at 90 metres, was the top scorer after the first half with 355 points; he added 351 points in the second half for a total of 706. Asked if his new world record gave him the push he needed to finish 1st, ELZINGA answered “of course it makes me more confident; I’m in a good shape at the moment and I hope to have a good result here.” Behind ELZINGA, French World Cup Finalist Pierre-Julien DELOCHE was 2nd with 704 points. Tied at 703 points were new world N°1 Braden GELLENTHIEN (USA) in 3rd, World Cup Finalist Dominique GENET (FRA) in 4th, world N°2 Reo WILDE (USA) in 5th, and Roberto HERNANDEZ (ESA) in 6th.
