Bridger DEATON’s seamless integration into the men’s team is complete. Paired with Braden GELLENTHIEN and Reo WILDE, he continued to post the scores of someone far more experienced on the international circuit.
The boys beat India and Mexico in the early rounds, and face Australia for gold in Shanghai.
It’s a third medal opportunity for DEATON, the most successful States athlete at this event. (He’s shooting for mixed team gold and individual bronze.)
Erika JONES’ women had a scare in the second round against Great Britain. Both teams scored 28 in a shoot-off, but the number one seed USA squeaked through with an arrow closer to the middle.
JONES, Jamie VAN NATTA and Tristan SKARVAN beat Mexico in the semifinals, like their male counterparts. Their gold match is against Chinese Taipei.
“No matter how much you think you know, every day is a little different,” said VAN NATTA. “You always learn something new.”
The two-time World Cup Final winner – who just started a new full-time job – recently relocated to a house with a 50-metre garden. “The little time I have to train is now much more efficient,” she said.
