Italy’s Cinzia Noziglia was named the World Games’ athlete of the month for October 2022, a few weeks after her victory at the World Archery Field Championships in Yankton.

That title saw the 37-year-old barebow archer complete an historic first for the sport, as she won individual gold medals at the World GamesWorld Archery 3D Championships and World Archery Field Championships in the same year.

“It was an amazing year for myself as an archer,” said Nozigilia, who lauded the importance of the World Games in promoting the discipline of barebow archery. “And I’m glad to celebrate with the World Games community.”

The World Games, world 3D and world field championships are the three international majors for barebow archers.

They have never been held in the same year but both the World Games and World Archery 3D Championships were delayed one year due to the pandemic, providing the opportunity for Noziglia’s historic achievement.

The popular Italian has been in a class of her own throughout the season.

She seeded top at each of the competitions before dominating in matchplay to remain entirely unbeaten on the international stage in 2022.
