Slow and steady Ellison winning the SNGLRTY Prize for Precision race

Brady Ellison climbed one place to take the lead in the recurve men’s SNGLRTY Prize for Precision rankings as he made the final four at the third stage of the 2023 Hyundai Archery World Cup in Colombia.

Despite losing his semifinal to Mauro Nespoli and his bronze medal match to Lee Woo Seok, the five-time Hyundai Archery World Cup Champion maximised his arena appearances in terms of 10-count to overtake Li Zhongyuan – who did not compete in Medellin – at the top of the list with a total of 202 perfects over three stages.

An Qixuan, Penny Healey and Elia Canales, the top three athletes in the recurve women’s ranking after the second stage in Shanghai, dropped out in favour of Medellin stage winner Lim Sihyeon (145 total 10s), Alejandra Valencia (129) and Michelle Kroppen (126).

Ellison has already won this award first four times – 2010, 2012, 2014 and 2016 – and is now in an excellent position to add another to his count.

Fifth in Medellin, Olympic Champion Mete Gazoz climbed up to second in the SNGLRTY Prize for Precision ranking, 19 10s behind Ellison, while world number one Marcus D’Almeida and stage winner Mauro Nespoli follow, tied on 176 10s each.

The Prize for Precision was introduced in 2010 to celebrate the most accurate archers across the entire year. Recurve archers are eligible for the award in even years and compound archers in odd years.
