Italy’s women break 18-year-old national qualification record at European Indoors
Qualification concluded at the European Indoor Archery Championships in Plovdiv, Bulgaria on Tuesday, with the Italian recurve women breaking their own 18-year-old national team record.
Loredana Spera, Chiara Rebagliati and Roberta Di Francesco combined for 1758 points, surpassing the previous mark of 1741 set in 2008 by Italian Olympians Natalia Valeeva, Pia Lionetti and Elena Tonetta.
Di Francesco led the recurve women’s individual qualifying with 590 points, while the men’s list was topped by Italian favourite Matteo Borsani with 595.
In compound, Denmark’s Sofie Louise Dam Marcussen, the mixed team gold medallist at the Chengdu 2025 World Games, led the women’s competition with 596 points. France’s Nicolas Girard narrowly edged Israel’s Shamai Yamrom for top place in the men’s event after a coin toss, both scoring 598 with 58 10s.
In barebow, Cinzia Noziglia dominated the women’s qualifying with 544 points, 20 ahead of teammate Linda Grezzani, while France’s Jerome Souchaud led the senior men with 555.
Eliminations continue on Wednesday at the European Indoor Championships.
