Italy’s women break recurve qualification record at European Indoors

Qualification completed at the European Indoor Archery Championships in Plovdiv, Bulgaria on Tuesday with the Italian trio of Loredana Spera, Chiara Rebagliati and Roberta Di Francesco breaking the 18-year-old European recurve women’s team record with 1758 points.

The old record of 1741 had stood since 2008, set by a starry trio of Italian Olympians: Natalia Valeeva, Pia Lionetti, and Elena Tonetta

Di Francesco topped qualifying in Plovdiv with 590, while the men's recurve list was headed by the Italian favourite Matteo Borsani with 595. 

In compound, Denmark’s Sofie Louise Dam Marcussen, the mixed team gold medallist from the Chengdu 2025 World Games led the women's competition with a 596, while France’s Nicolas Girard just edged Israel’s Shamai Yamrom for first place on a coin toss, with both men scoring 598 with 58 tens. 

In the barebow competition, Cinzia Noziglia dominated the women’s list with 544, a full 20 points clear of her teammate Linda Grezzani, while France’s Jerome Souchaud led the senior barebow men with 555. 

The competition continues at the European Indoor Archery Championships with eliminations on Wednesday.
