Norway’s Eva Cathrine Thesen has been appointed acting secretary general of World Archery Europe, effective 1 September 2026.

Thesen brings extensive experience in archery governance and sports administration to the role, having been involved in the sport at national, European and international level for several decades.

She currently chairs World Archery’s constitution and rules committee and serves as a non-voting member of the World Archery executive board.

Her long career in archery administration includes serving on the World Archery Europe executive board from 2004 to 2011 and as a World Archery executive board member from 2011 to 2023.

She has also held several leadership positions within the Norwegian archery federation and worked extensively on the organisation of major international competitions, including the London 2012 Olympic Games, European Championships and European Games.

A former national-level compound archer herself, Thesen has combined sporting experience with a long-standing commitment to the development and governance of archery.

She will now support World Archery Europe President Hakan Cakiroglu, the executive board and the administration in her new role.
