15 December 2009 - FITA International Youth Judges

FITA International Youth Judges Lausanne – 15 December 2009   The FITA Judges Committee has established a judge segment called “International Youth Judges” for the purpose of using younger judges at Youth Olympics, Youth World Championships, University World Championships and possibly at other events for young archers.   The FITA Judges Committee had been working for a while on recruiting young women and men for international judging. The introduction of Youth Olympic Games by the IOC brought the whole idea up on a political level, as FITA is establishing our sport as a dynamic sport for young people.Using young judges especially in events for young people fits this image.   The plan is to implement a new category of young judges in our FITA system, to be used for the Youth Olympic Games and possible other youth events—together with established FITA International Judges and Judges Candidates.   We are now planning to increase the number of youth judges available, and therefore we ask our Member Associations to inform us of the number of National and Continental Judges in their country that are less than 30 years old and have a good knowledge of English.   We would need you to provide us with their name, gender, status (national, continental), date of birth and email address. Please send these informations to sfreymond@archery.org.   Deadline to provide this information: 31 December 2009.   Next steps for these young judges:   a)  In early 2010 they will receive a short personal survey. b)  In April/May 2010 they will be asked to make an open book test (by email). c) Approximately 15 candidates will be invited to participate in a judge seminar, with accreditation exam, in Shanghai (China), in connection with the 2010 World Cup Stage 4.   The costs of participation will have to be covered by the participants and/or their Member Association.   FITA Judges Committee Edited by FITA Communication
