Italian Federation Founder passed away Lausanne – 4 January 2010   It is with deep sadness that the Italian Archery Federation announces the passing of Renato DONI on 1 January 2010 after a long illness. Renato was one of the founder members of the Italian Archery Federation (FITARCO), being already an archer before the association was born.   Renato was born in Milan on 3 May 1931. Between 1961 and 1965 he won two Italian Championships and set up two national records. He attended, being a member of the Italian Team, the European Championship in Paris in 1962 and the World Championship in Vasteras, Sweden, in 1965.   In 1968 he has been appointed Manager Trainer for the National Teams and Technical Coordinator of the Italian Federation. He maintained these appointments up to 1988, with no interruptions. He has been the Olympic Team Captain in Munich, 1972, Montreal, 1976 and Moscow, 1980, as well as National Team Captain in a large number of European, international and world championships.   He cooperated full-time with the most important and talented international Trainers, such as K.B. Johnsson, Mietek Novacovsky, Arseney Balov and, for ten years, with Mario Codispoti.   In 1983 he has been university teacher by the University Isef, Rome, as expert in archery. In preparation of the Olympic Games in Los Angeles 1984, he has been appointed responsible of the training for the athletes of Lombardia. Specifically for the coaching sector, he has been the founder of the Commission that in 1971 created the Campus in Teela Woocked, in the United States, the School of Trainers and Coachers of the Italian Federation.   He has been awarded of the silver plaquette in 1985 FITA Congress in Seoul and a bronze one in the 2009 Congress in Ulsan.   He was appointed by FITARCO as organizer for World Archery Field Championships in Passariano in 1972, World Archery Championships in Punta Ala in 1981.   He was judge trainer in the first years of the national judge development committee. He was a National Judge, a person every archery organizer loved to see in Italy, and he attended archery competitions up to 2008.   FITARCO and all the FITA community will miss him a lot and extend their condolences to his family and friends.   More info on www.fitarco-italia.org   FITARCO and FITA Communication
