4 January 2010 - South African Archery Looses a Leader

South African Archery Looses a Leader Lausanne – 4 January 2010   It is with deep regret that the South African Archery Association (SANAA) announces the passing of Dave WALLACE after a long illness. Dave was in many ways the doyen of archery in South Africa and rose through the ranks to the highest Judges position in the world.  David, a retired corporate executive, was first introduced to the sport in the 1960’s and after qualifying as a National Judge in 1994, was accredited as an international judge in 1995, officiating at the World Archery Championships in Jakarta in the same year. Since then he has played the role of the director of shooting for a number of international tournaments and world championships, including judging at the 2000 Sydney Olympic Games. He held a number of positions in the archery world, including that of chairperson of the South African National Archery Association Judges Commission, coaching committees and constitutional committee. David was actively involved in the sport, dedicating much of his time to increasing standards, and passing his experience to the new generation of archery coaches and judges. SANAA and all the FITA community mourns his loss and extend their condolences to his wife Eve and family.   More info: http://www.sanaa.org.za/news.php   SANAA and FITA Communication
