The international federation has developed a strategic plan covering several decades, aiming for “A world in which everyone has the opportunity to practise, engage with and enjoy the important Olympic sport of archery”.

World Archery is building on the capacity of its member associations to make archery a leading sport around the globe, through its values of precision, intensity, innovation, heritage, fair play and sport for all.

It targets a more sustainable economic model by building an event ecosystem with outdoor and indoor circuits governed by international blocks.

The clear pathway and consistency in the calendar help better meet expectations and make archery events more profitable to athletes, spectators, organisers, broadcasters and all other stakeholders.

Through active content and a broadcast strategy, World Archery aims to raise awareness of and engagement to the sport.

Guide to strategy

World Archery has released Targeting Gold – The Archery Workbook to Developing a Successful Strategy, a guide for member associations to use when developing a successful strategic plan.

The document is available in English, French, Spanish, Arabic and Russian via World Archery’s extranet or as online flipbooks.

The tool helps member national archery federations analyse and asses their governance strategies and is based on responses to a good governance questionnaire, which found that approximately 35% of World Archery’s member associations had no plan in place.

World Archery’s goal is to reach 100% implementation of strategic plans.
