World number three Toja Ellison has increased her own compound women’s double 50-metre qualifying world record by three to 1415 of a possible 1440 points, subject to ratification.

She was shooting at an event in Slovenia yesterday ahead of travelling to the first stage of the 2022 Hyundai Archery World Cup in Antalya this week.

“It was one of those days when shooting didn’t come easy,” she wrote on her Instagram page. “I worked hard for every single arrow I shot and it paid off.”

Toja’s score for the first of the back-to-back qualifying rounds, 710, is also set to be ratified as a Slovenian national record and is five points higher than her international competition best set in 2019.

The 28-year-old set the previous double 50-metre world record at 1412 in 2019.

Competition at the Hyundai Archery World Cup season opener starts with qualification on Tuesday for Toja and the rest of the compound archers in Antalya.
