Dutch archer Martine Stas-Couwenberg set a new compound women 50+ world record for the double 50-metre round on 10 May 2026 at the Double 50/70 tournament in Minderhout, Belgium.

Stas-Couwenberg scored 1357 points over 144 arrows, surpassing the previous world best of 1350 set by USA’s Linda Klosterman in August 2019 in Dublin.

The new mark has now been officially ratified.

Having focused more on field archery recently, Stas-Couwenberg said her preparation for the event had been different and her expectations lower than usual.

“My expectations were therefore a bit lower, and my main goal was simply to shoot good arrows.”

Competing at the relaxed and well-organised event in Minderhout, she said she closely followed her scoring throughout the tournament.

“Throughout the competition, I was aware of my scores, and after three completed rounds I already knew that I was going to break the Dutch record [for the round], which was already in my name.”

Stas-Couwenberg only learned later that the performance had also broken the world record.

“It wasn’t until more than a week later that I discovered it was also a new world record. A very fun and unexpected bonus – one I’m secretly quite proud of.”
