David Jackson wins third 3D world title as France triumphs in Yankton
France’s David Jackson won his third 3D world title in the barebow men’s event, defeating Spain’s Cesar Vera Bringas in the final at the Yankton 2026 World Archery 3D Championships.
The 34-year-old previously won the title in 2019 and 2022, the same year he became world field champion.
The barebow women’s title also went to France, with Virginie Chevrier winning her first world title after defeating reigning European Champion Rosemarie Leitner of Austria.
Slovenia’s Tim Jevsnik won the compound men’s title, defeating Austria’s Nico Wiener, a multiple world champion in field and 3D archery. In the women’s event, France’s Aude Ama-Cormerais, the reigning European Champion, defeated Austria’s Ingrid Ronacher, a former world champion.
Jackson was also part of France’s four-man men’s team that won gold at the event the previous day. The victories helped France top the medal table, ahead of Austria and Russia.
The traditional bow titles went to Denmark’s Zibrandt Christensen and Germany’s Judith Wenzl. Wenzl is the reigning European Champion, while Christensen claimed his second world title after winning in 2017.
Russia’s Mikhail Poddevalin and Austria’s Johanna Pitschmann won the individual longbow titles. Pitschmann, aged 63, was one of the oldest competitors in the field.
Her victory was perhaps less surprising in a longbow field notable for its higher average age, where experience and instinct play an important role.
