Indoor World Championships - Quotes of Compound Eliminations

Compound Men  Chance BEAUBOUEF (USA) photo left – shooting for gold on Sunday My great grandparents were French and I was born in Louisiana. That explains my name. About my shooting, I was actually much more nervous than it seemed. However, I could keep it under control and bring these 10s home.

I have been shooting for eight years as a professional in the USA, but this is the first time that I had the opportunity to come on the international stage. I like the atmosphere a lot. The arena is nice and they are many people cheering!
Dominique GENET (FRA) photo right– shooting for bronze on Sunday I gave a small opening to Chance and he did not miss it, scoring 120 points! Of course, I regret these two bad arrows, but overall, I am happy with my shooting so far this week. The more you advance in the brackets, the more pressure you feel. It gets more difficult matches after matches.

There is still a lot to do this weekend. We’ll try to take on the Americans in the team event. We know how they are since we played them for gold two years ago. I will also have my individual bronze medal match.
Compound Women   Eugenia SALVI (ITA) photo left – 2007 World Champion You can imagine that it’s difficult to repeat as a world champion. Two years ago this was just new territory for me. This year, I felt more pressure coming into the competition. This morning I was feeling good and I wanted to defend my chances with honour. I think I did. I scored 115 points in the match against Camilla SOEMOD (DEN) and she only beat me in the shoot-off.

Now, I still have my outdoor title to defend. However, I feel like I start again from zero. It will be a long season.
Pascale LEBECQUE (FRA) photo right After the match, I was disappointed, because for a while I thought I could win it (redaction note: defeat in quarterfinal versus the American ANSCHUTZ). Now, I think it was a great experience that I should be able to carry with me for future competitions. I found a routine, and hopefully, I can reproduce this type of performance. My goal is now to qualify for the outdoor world championships later this year.  I was shooting recurve in junior and I participated in the youth world championships in 2006 in Merida. At that time, I was also having fun with my compound bow. Then, it started to get more difficult in recurve, while I was shooting better and better in compound. So a year ago, I decided to shoot recurve only with my club team but to switch to compound for individual competitions. I am very happy with the progression in one year!   Giorgia SOLATO (ITA) Before my third and final arrow of the shoot-off, I told myself: “I come from Maranello, headquarter of Ferrari. I can’t lose against a Honda”. (Redaction note: referring to the Japanese archer Yumiko HONDA; SOLATO won)   FITA Communication
