Eight countries win gold medals at Para-Archery tournament

There were winners from seven countries in seven different individual finals on Friday, while three archers ended the day with two medals, thanks to the team tournaments.
The Italian Vittorio BARTOLI won the recurve men W2 gold, beating YOU In Sik of Korea in the final. BARTOLI later won a team silver, as Italy finished runners-up to Poland.
Another double medal winner was Poland's Milena OLSZEWSKA, who beat Eliane SALDEN-OTTEN of the Netherlands in the recurve women standing final. It was a tense match, with OLSZEWSKA finally taking the gold medal in a tie-break, shooting a 10 to SALDEN-OTTEN's 9. OLSZEWSKA was then a member of the Polish trio that finished runner-up to host nation Great Britain in the team event.
USA's Jeffrey Rhoden FABRY ended the event with two silver medals. He was runner-up to Britain's John CAVANAGH in the compound men W2 final, and was a runner-up too in the compound men's team tournament, as the USA finished second to Korea.
Other gold medallists on Friday included Germany's Matthias ALPERS, who beat Frenchman Armando CABREIRA in the recurve men standing final. The recurve women W2 category was an all-Czech affair, with Marketa SIDKOVA triumphing 6-0 against her teammate Miroslava CERNA.
World champion Philippe HORNER of Switzerland took the gold medal in the compound men standing class, when he saw off the challenge of Frenchman Maurice CHAMPNEY. And there was a gold medal for Russia in the compound women standing event, thanks to Marina LYZKNIKOVA, who defeated Spain's Ainara BADIOLA 7-1.
