World Field Archery Championships 2008 in Wales
Lausanne - 26 January 2006
The Grand National Archery Society (GNAS), national federation of Great Britain, is already looking at the London Games in 2012 and will organize the 2008 World Field Archery Championships in Llwynypia, Wales.
The FITA Secretary General Tom Dielen visited GNAS headquarters last week and gave a presentation to the GNAS Board of Directors on the FITA activities. The main subjects were FITA’s World Cup, the FITA Strategy for the future of archery and the preparation of the London 2012 Games. During the same trip Tom Dielen also visited the Lord’s stadium, which will be another outstanding venue for archery during the London 2012 Olympics.
GNAS has been growing steadily since the Athens Olympics and now has 28’500 members. Their aim is to have 50’000 members by 2012 which will guarantee a public success of the London Olympics. The national team with their Korean Coach, Peter Suk, is also making sure that the medal list in Beijing and for sure in London will include a member of the GNAS. The national team will be participating in the FITA World Cup and it will be one of the teams to be reckoned with, without any doubt.
During the meeting Mrs. Lynne Evans MBE, Chair of the Board of GNAS, and Tom Dielen also signed the organizers agreement of the 2008 World Field Archery Championships that will be held in Llwynypia, Wales.
