In this match Italy has the more consistent start with three 10s and three 9s and an intermediate score of 57 out of 60. China opens with a 7, and then follows with 10-9-10-9-8 and trails by 4 points (53). The "Azzurri" increase their advantage in the second end with 54 versus China's 53. The half-way score is 111-106. The advantage keeps increasing and the Chinese seem resigned to a 9-point disadvantage and only six arrows to go (166-157). Team China finishes with three perfect arrows (10-10-10) but this is not enough and Italy is the first team to qualify for the gold match (224-213). They will now wait and see whether Germany or Great Britain will join them later on.
  Semi-Final: Germany vs Great Britain
Tie score at 55 in this match after the first end: 9-8-9-10-10-9 for Germany; 10-8-9-9-10-9 for the host country, Great Britain. The Germans start the second end with a 7 and the British take the opportunity to take the lead. With 54 points in this 6-arrow series versus 52 for their opponents, the local archers have a 2-point advantage at the half-way mark (109-107) but the match is intense and the Germans manage to recover and even pass Britons by 1 point with only six arrows to shoot (160-159). The 19th arrow is a poor 3 for the British... and with this they lose all hopes to recover! Germany eventually takes the match by 213-209 and will meet Italy for the gold, while Great Britain will face China for bronze.
Bronze Final: China vs Great Britain
Terry, Wills and Godfrey open the match with 8-9-8 and they are tied at 25 with the Chinese who shoot 8-10-7. The locals then take a 3-point lead with 9-10-10 (54), whereas Li, Wu and Yong score 9-8-9 (51). The latter recover 2 points at the beginning of the second end with 10-10-7 (78). The British go on with 9-9-7 and maintain a 1-point lead. The Chinese archers gain confidence and release a perfect 3-arrow series for a half-way score of 108. With 9-10-9 and 107 points Terry and team-mates leave the lead with their opponents. In the third end the local athletes score three 10s, two 9s and an 8 and have an intermediate total of 163. This allows them to recover the lead after the last Chinese archer shots a 7 (161). More consistent, the local team finishes with only 10s and 9s and wins the bronze by 7 points (220-213).
  Gold Final: Italy vs Germany
The last match of the day at the Duke of York Royal Military School! Galiazzo, Nespoli and Di Buo open the match with 9-8-9 (26). For their part, the Germans Rohrberg, Ginzel and Floto score 8-10-8 (26) and tie the match. Italy takes the lead with 53 points at the end of the first end (52 for Germany). The 2004 Olympic Champion Galiazzo and his team-mates open an important lead in the second end with only 9s and 10s and a half-way mark of 109 points. This gives them an 8-point lead over Rohrberg and his fellow countrymen who score two 7s, two 8s and two 9s (101). Things do not improve for Germany in the second part of the match: they score a 54-point third end, to still trail by 8 points. The score is now 163-155 in favour of Italy. No problem for the Italians in the last end and they easily win gold on the score of 217-207.
Recurve Women Semi-Final: India vs Italy
Tie after the first three arrows of this match between India and Italy (26-26). Shooting a 5 with their fourth arrow, the Italians allowed their opponent to take the lead. 52-49 after the first end. India then shoots two 10s and four 9s to increase their advantage to 4 points (108-104). However, the Italians make a great effort to recover in the third series of six arrows. They score 10-10-9-10-10-8, and their opponents help them shooting 9-8-8-8-9-7. The lead changes and goes to Italy: 161-157! The last six arrows do not change anything and the young Italians go on to the gold medal match winning by 216-211.
  Semi-Final: Great Britain vs Poland
The local team is facing Poland to win the right to meet Italy for gold. The Polish girls have the best start with 10-10-9 (8-9-9 for GB), but then they score 9-8-9, while their opponents score 9-10-9 and are only 1-point behind. The lead changes at the half-way mark: thanks to a 54-point end versus 48 for the Poles, Great Britain has an advantage of 5 points (108-103). The local team manages to increase it to 6 points with only six arrows to go: 160-154. Starting the last end with a 3, no more chances for Poland to recover and they will be shooting against India for the bronze, while the British will face Italy for gold. Final score: 210-203.
  Bronze Final: India vs Poland
Alternate shooting now that the teams are in the medal matches. India starts with 10-8-10, while Poland shoots 10-9-7. The Asian ladies lead by 2 (28-26). They continue with 9-9-8 to score an intermediate total of 54. The Poles lose one more point with 8-8-9 and 51. As they are trailing, the latter start the second end shooting first on target 2. They score 7-9-6 (73). India increases its lead to 6 points with 8-9-8 (79). Poland reaches 100 points at the half-way mark with an additional triple 9. They are still behind by 6 after the Indians imitate them with three 9s (106). In the third end the Asians shoot 9-9-9-9-8-7 (157) and no change with only six arrows to go, the Poles scoring 9-10-8-8-7-9 (151). Tonetta, Perosini and Lionetti shoot first for Italy on target 1. They start with 10-6-8 (24). The locals Folkard, Williamson and Burgess then release 7-9-9 (25) and take the lead. They keep their 1-point advantage at the end of the first end: 8-10-9 (52) for Great Britain and 9-10-8 (51) for Italy. The Italian girls then go on with 9-8-10 and a score of 78 points. The British make their effort and shoot 10-9-10 (81) for a 3-point advantage. The two teams then score a 10, a 9 and an 8, and the lead stay with the British archers (108-105). The third end starts with 10-9-8 for Tonetta and team-mates (132). Shooting 8-10-9, the local team keeps the same advantage with 135. They finish the match with 207 points and leave victory and gold to Folkard, Williamson and Burgess (212)!
