Interview with Michele FRANGILLI (ITA)
Dubai – 22 November 2007
This afternoon the finalists of the Archery World Cup 2007 had a second opportunity to practice on a practice field set up for them in a shooting club. There we met Italian Michele Frangilli - one of the contenders in Recurve Men - and asked him a few questions.
How does it feel to be here in Dubai?
It’s good. This is a good competition because there is sun, not as right now back home in Italy.
How have you been preparing since Dover in August?
I have done nothing special. I have practiced all as usual. I have been shooting about 1500 arrows in the past three weeks, which in not very much. You know, I’m getting married in one month (NB: on 29 December he will marry the French archer Sandrine Vandionant) and I’ve had other things to think about lately. (Smile…)
What are your expectations for this Final?
I want to win, it’s clear!
What do you think of this year’s format for this final, compared to last year’s round robin?
I personally prefer the round robin. Indeed, after four months everything has changed. The data are not necessarily the same than during the year and than in Dover.
Let’s talk about the future already! What do you plan for next year?
In January I will take part in the Indoor Italian Championships. Then, in February we have a training camp in Cairo, Egypt. It will already be the qualifying course for the Olympic Games. We are five for three places, and after Cairo one person will be out already.
What do you do for a leaving? Are you a full-time archer?
I’m a full time archer. I’m part of an army sports group. I’m in aeronautics.
Thanks a lot and good luck!
