Interview of Petra ERICSSON (SWE)
Dubai – 23 November 2007
How does it feel to be here?
It’s great! I can now say the final is finally here! Before Varese, Mats (her husband) said to me I was going to do the final, I did not believe him immediately, but after a while I believed in myself and I knew I was going to do it.
How did you prepare since Dover in August?
Routine as usual: in the evenings and in the weekends.
What are your expectations?
“Top four!” Mats interrupts. I am just hoping to shoot 24 good arrows. Everything can happen, as long as I shoot good I am happy.
What do you think of the format?
It is good. You can focus on the matches in advance, and you have a bonus if you rank high during the season.
What do you think of the World Cup in general?
It is a very good idea, especially for compound. Recurve has Olympic trials they are focused on for two years. For compound it is a really good thing. It is also a good format we can easily explain to press and outside people as most of sports have this kind of competitions where there are several qualification events and a final at the end, it gives credit for consistency to the sport.
What do you plan for next year?
I will keep on shooting, but a bit less as we are expecting a baby in March. I may be going to Antalya, but for sure not in the goal of qualifying for the Final.
What do you do for a living?
I work for Volvo trucks, in IT Systems.
Do you have any lucky charm?
My husband and my baby! (NB: Petra is pregnant and the baby is due in March)
Thank you and good luck, then!
