3 April 2008 - 2nd South Asian Archery Championship in India

2nd South Asian Archery Championship in India Lausanne - 3 April 2008  The main object of this event taking place on 7-9 March 2008 in Jamshedpur, India was to develop the sport of Archery in this sub-continent and create friendship bonds among the member countries through sports. This event has created a page of history for archery. For the first time, Bamboo bow event was included in international tournament, according to adapted rules.   Compound division was also included in the South Asian Archery Federation (SAAF) championship for the first time.   Local transport, as well as accommodation and food were provided by the organizing committee to all the participants and officials free of cost at the JRD Tata Sports Complex, Jamshedpur.   Archery Association of India extended free accommodation and training facilities to the participants from 7 days before the tournament started. The organising committee provided equipment support to the participating member countries as per their requirement.   Participating Countries: Bangladesh, Bhutan, Nepal, Sri Lanka and India   Participating Athletes: Recurve Men: 23 - Recurve Women: 18 - Bamboo Bow Men: 18 - Bamboo Bow Women: 18 - Compound Men: 15 - Compound Women: 14   Events: There was an individual and a team event in each category, except in Women Compound, where only an individual event has been organized.   Results: Distance Medals were awarded. As per Olympic Council of Asia norms, maximum two participants per country were awarded medals in every distance and in individual Olympic Round.   Ø     Complete Results   FITA Development Department
