  Justyna Mospinek (POL) will meet Yun Ok Hee (KOR) in the Recurve Women final on Saturday. In Compound Men Sergio Pagni (ITA) will shoot against Dietmar Trillus (CAN).   The elimination matches were competed on Thursday up to the semi-finals. Below our live commentaries of the selected matches.   Recurve Women   1st round: MARUSAVA Hanna (BLR) - CWIENCZEK Malgorzata (POL) The elimination matches started slowly for no 24 Cwienczek of Poland who faced no 41 Marusava from Belarus. Cwienczek shot a 54-point first end, while her opponent shot 52. The second half of the match allowed the Pole to increase her advantage to 3 pts and clinch victory by 107-104.
  1st round: SCHUH Berengere (FRA) - JOO Hyun Jung (KOR) Bronze medallist in Santo Domingo two weeks ago, the French Schuh suffered due to her bad qualification round yesterday when she finished at 61st place. Shooting against one of the Korean favorites Joo, she could only managed 48 pts at the half-way mark to the 54 of her opponent. Trailing by 6 she had no chance to recover and lost in the first round by 99-111.
  1st round: BANERJEE Dola (IND) - WINTER Karina (GER) The Indian Banerjee, who won Stage 4 in Dover last year, was seeded only 59th here in Porec and therefore faced no 6 Winter from Germany. She managed to hold on in the first part of the match (55-56), but completely lost her way in the second half shooting 9-7-8-8-6-8 (101). More consistent, Winter shot X10-9-9-10-8-8 to win the match on 110 pts!
  2nd round: TONETTA Elena (ITA) - LIONETTI Pia Carmen (ITA) A 100% Italian match in the second round between Tonetta and Lionetti! Tonetta had the better start with 56 pts in the first end (53 for Lionetti)but shooting two 7s in the second half of the match, she allowed her team-mate to come from behind and tie the match at 107. In the shoot-off Tonetta regained her best form and with a 9 she qualified for the next round over Lionetti's 7.
  2nd round: VALEEVA Natalia (ITA) - NARIMANIDZE Khatuna (GEO) Another Italian had to fight in a shoot-off in this round. Trailing by 3 pts at the half-way mark (51-54), World Champion Valeeva managed a X10-10-10-9-9-9 end to tie the match at the end of the match. On the first shoot-off arrow both ladies scored a 9, Valeeva's arrow being just on the line by one millimetre... However, in the second shoot-off the Italian proved she knows how to hold her nerve scoring a 10! With an 8, the Georgian could only concede victory to her opponent.
  2nd round: ZHANG Juan Juan (CHN) - CWIENCZEK Malgorzata (POL) With a very bad start and 50 pts, Cwienczek had already lost all hopes after 6 arrows... Indeed, the Chinese Zhang started with a strong 56-point end. With an advantage of 6 pts, the World Cup winner in 2006 and Finalist in 2007 only had to control the second half of the match. She did so adequately maintaining the same advantage to the end and clinching the match 108-102.
  3rd round: YUN Ok Hee (KOR) - KWAK Ye Ji (KOR) Two Korean team-mates, No.1 seed Yun and No.17 seed, Kwak fought for a place in quarter-final this morning. The first part of the match was to Kwak's advantage, leading by 1 pt after 6 arrows (56-55). However, experience spoke in the second half as former World Champion Yun scored a triple 10 and a triple 9 to overcome her fellow countrywoman 112-110.
  3rd round: VALEEVA Natalia (ITA) - TONETTA Elena (ITA) After Lionetti in the previous round, Tonetta faced another team-mate in the 3rd round, World Champion Valeeva. Suffering from a very bad start in this match (9-8-9-9-9-7), Valeeva was trailed by 6 pts at the half-way mark (51-57)! However, she came on stronger in the second half (10-9-7-X10-10-10), while her young opponent scored five 9s and a poor 6. The score was tied at 107! In the shoot-off, the World Champion managed a 10, putting pressure on Tonetta who could only score a 7. Valeeva continues...
  3rd round: ZHANG Juan Juan (CHN) - HAYAKAWA Nami (JPN) In this match the World Cup Champion in 2006, Zhang from China, gave it up with a 7 at the very first arrow! Her opponent from Japan had the lead 53-50 after six arrows and increased this lead by the end of the match. The final score was 109-105 in favour of Hayakawa.
  Quarter-final: DEVI Laishram Bombayla (IND) - MOSPINEK Justyna (POL) The only match that was really close in the Recurve Women quarter-finals was the one between Devi from India and Mospinek from Poland. The Indian had the lead after the first end (27-25), but her opponent took it back from her at the half-way mark: 52-51 in favour of Mospinek. The latter managed to keep her 2-point advantage before the last end (81-79), but with 8-10-8 she saw Devi come back and tie the match at 107 with 10-8-10. In the shoot-off the Pole won the match with a 9 against a 7 for the Indian.
  Quarter-final: PARK Sung-Hyun (KOR) - HE Ying (CHN) The Olympic Champion Park from Korea faced He from China in the quarter-final. She trailed by two after three arrows (26-28) and lost all hopes shooting a 7 with her fourth arrow. Park did not let the opportunity go and doubled her advantage at the half-way mark (56-51). No recovery was to be expected by the Chinese who had to concede victory to the Korean: 106-114.
  Semi-final: YUN Ok Hee (KOR) - VALEEVA Natalia (ITA) Seeded no 1, Yun from Korea had the best start taking a 2-point advantage over World Champion Valeeva of Italy (27-25). The gap remained the same at the half-way mark (53-51) after Yun shot 8-9-9 and Valeeva 10-9-7. In the second half of the match the Italian started to come back strongly shooting 10-X10-8, trailing by one point before the last three arrows (79-80). Valeeva tied the match at the end on 105 points each. In the shoot-off both athletes scored 9 first, but then Yun hit the 10 while Valeeva only hit 9.
  Semi-final: PARK Sung-Hyun (KOR) - MOSPINEK Justyna (POL) In the second semi-final the lead kept changing from one archer to the other! It was first the Olympic Champion Park who had a 1-point advantage (29-28), but then Mospinek took it back after six arrows thanks to a perfect 10-10-10 second end (58-57). In the third end Park managed to tie the score at 84. However the Korean had to admit defeat at the end, after she shot 9-9-8 (110) and her opponent from Poland 8-10-9 (111).
  Compound Men   1st round: GRIMWOOD Liam (GBR) - FRANKLIN Mark (GBR) No. 9 seed Grimwood from Great Britain faced no real difficulties in his match with team-mate Franklin. He had a 4-point lead at the half-way mark (59-55). He then increased it in the second half of the match to finish the match on a very strong score of 118-113.
  1st round: HASENFUSS Thomas (GER) - JIMENEZ Jorge (ESA) A tight first match for 2007 World Cup winner Jimenez from El Salvador with the score tied at the half-way mark in his match against the German Hasenfuss (58-58). However, Jimenez proved one more time he is a great champion and managed to win the match by one small point (115-114). He will face No 13 seed Gomez from Spain in the second round this morning.
  1st round: KIS Laszlo (HUN) - ZAMANINEJAD Reza (IRI) The match between no 33 Kis and no 32 Zamaninejad was not as tight as it was supposed to be. Indeed, the Hungarian archer shot six perfect first arrows and was already 3 pts ahead at the half-way mark (60-57). He then followed with a 58 end to finish with a strong score of 118 and defeat his Iranian opponent by 5 pts (113).
  2nd round: LUNDIN Morgan (SWE) - ELZINGA Peter (NED) No. 15 seed Elzinga faced No. 18 Lundin in the second round. Shooting 10-9-X10-10-9-9 (57), the archer from the Netherlands led by 1 at the half-way mark as his opponent from Sweden shot 10-9-9-9-9-10 (56). In the second part of the match Elzinga shot five 10s out of six arrows and clinched the match with a 3-point advantage (116-113).
  2nd round: CARLSSON Magnus (SWE) - CUSTERS Emiel (NED) Another match between archers from Sweden and the Netherlands! Carlsson and Custers were face-to-face in the second round this morning and although he trailed by 1 point after six arrows, the Swede managed to recover and win the match thanks to his opponent shooting five 9s in the second half (115-112).
  2nd round: BRASSEUR Sebastien (FRA) - DOS SANTOS Roberval (BRA) Brasseur and Dos Santos were both finalists at last year's World Cup Final in Dubai and they already faced each other in the second round this morning! It was Brasseur who started the best with 8-9-X10-X10-X10-10 (57) versus 9-9-9-9-X10-X10 (56) for Dos Santos. However, the Frenchman completely lost his way as the match advanced (10-10-9-9-8-8) and finished with a low total of 111. His opponent from Brazil took this opportunity and shot 10-10-9-9-9-9 to win the match on 112 pts.
  3rd round: GENET Dominique (FRA) - WAKELIN Neil (GBR) Genet who won the qualification round yesterday, beating the Team World Record with the French team along the way, had to fight hard in his 3rd elimination round against the Briton, Wakelin. The two archers were tied at 58 after six arrows. They then both achieved a perfect series of 60 and the tie remained at the end of the match (118-118). In the shoot-off Genet and Wakelin released their arrows at exactly the same time, but the Frenchman hit the 10 while his opponent "only" scored 9. Genet thus qualified for the quarter-finals where he will meet Liam Grimwood, another archer from Great Britain.
  3rd round: DOS SANTOS Roberval (BRA) - CANALEJAS Victor (ESP) After a tough previous round versus the Frenchman Brasseur, Dos Santos improved his shooting against the Spaniard, Canalejas. With 57 out of 60 pts in the first end, the Brazilian already had a 6-point advantage at the half-way mark (51 for Canalejas). Dos Santos finally clinched victory by 4 pts on a final score of 116-112.
  Quarter-final: GENET Dominique (FRA) - GRIMWOOD Liam (GBR) This quarter-final was tight up to the midpojnt of the match (27-26/56-55), but then the No. 1 seed Genet produced his best effort scoring two perfect ends of 30 pts each. With 27 and 29, Grimwood could not hold onto his opponent who won by 5 pts (116-111).
  Quarter-final: PAGNI Sergio (ITA) - DELOCHE Pierre Julien (FRA) The French Deloche took the lead 28-27 after three arrows. He doubled his advantage after 6 with 58-56. His Italian opponent managed to hold on in the third end and both archers shot a 28-point series (86-84 for Deloche). However, the last three arrows were to be fatal for Deloche who shot 10-9-8, while Pagni achieved a perfect 10-10-10 to clinch victory by one point (114-113)!
  Semi-final: GENET Dominique (FRA) - DOS SANTOS Roberval (BRA) Although he started strong with 10-X10-X10 and led by two points after three arrows (30-28), No. 1 seed Genet saw his opponent come back in the second end. This time it was Dos Santos's turn to shoot a perfect end of 30 to recover the lead at the half-way mark (58-57). The Brazilian followed with another strong end of 10-X10-9 to increase his advantage at 87-84. Genet tried his best in the last end, but despite 9-10-10, he could not overtake Dos Santos who finished with 9-9-10. Final score: 116-113 for Dos Santos.
  Semi-final: TRILLUS Dietmar (CAN) - PAGNI Sergio (ITA) The second semi-final was tighter: the two archers both shot 29 pts (9-X10-X10 for Trillus and X10-X10-9 for Pagni). The Italian took the lead first after six arrows, thanks to a prefect triple 10 against 9-9-10 for his opponent from Canada (59-57). In the third end it was Trillus's turn to score 30 pts (X10-10-10) and the score was tied again at 87 each after Pagni shot 10-10-8. The two contenders could not decide a winner as they both sho two 10s and a 9 in the last end (116-116). In the shoot-off the first arrow was a 10 for Trillus and an X10 for Pagni. The second arrow was a 9 for both and a third shoot-off arrow was needed! It was finally Pagni who took victory thanks to a perfect last X10 versus a 9 for World Champion Trillus.
