Tunisia - Libya
Development of archery is continuing in Tunisia. The affiliation process of the national federation to FITA will be completed in the near future. The Tunisian Equestrian & Shooting Federation officially separated into two federations mid-April, and archery is now part of the Tunisian Shooting Federation.
Following this constitutional change a Libyan delegation visited the Tunisian archers and attended a training session. Here below the names of the Libyan delegation:
Ø Abderrazak el Ganga: Vice President of Archery Arab Union and Member of Libyan General Archery Union
Ø Nouri Elflit: Vice President of Libyan General Archery Union
Ø Ali Abdesseleme: Member of Libyan General Archery Union
This visit aimed at reinforcing the relations between the Maghreb countries who founded the Maghreb Union of Shooting Sports (Morocco, Algeria, Tunisia, Libya and Mauritania). Libya is responsible of the development of archery and will host the 3rd Maghreb Championships this year. The archers of Monastir are preparing for this event.
Saudi Arabia – United Kingdom
On 2 May a British delegation is going to Riyadh, Saudi Arabia to conduct a 1-week course on archer and coach training. The delegation includes:
Ø Ken BEARMAN, Chairman of FITA Coaches Committee
Ø Neil DIMMOCK, Judge
Ø Neil ROACH, Psychologist
The Saudi Archery Team will go to England on 10 June for a 10-day Summer Camp. They will then compete in the final Olympic Qualifying Tournament in Boe, France. This is a joint government operation called “Saudi-British Memorandum of Understanding for Sport & Youth Welfare”.
FITA is pleased with such initiatives from its Member Associations assisting countries in the development of our sport.
